[52]***Now you're the King of Spinach in a battle for Olvie's love! Are you ready to climb ladders, jump landings, eat spinach and punch out Brutus, Seahag and the flying Bernard? Because that's what it takes to win Olive Oyl's hand in marriage. You'll score points by defeating your enemies and collecting the "love tokens" Olive drops from her window. The more you collect, the more points you'll score and the faster you'll win her love. But watch out. Around every corner lurks another jealous suitor. You'll have to think with your head as well as your heart to win this fast action love affair!***
[47]***UPC: 0-45496-63023-0 appears on some packages, but this is not a valid UPC code. It is most certainly a typo of the valid code 0-45496-63023-2 which appears on other packages.***Popeye and Brutus are at it again in this video contest for Olive Oyl's affection. As Popeye, you must battle the likes of Brutus and the Sea Hag while you race to collect all of the floating hearts that Olive tosses to you. Once you have Spinach power, Popeye can conquer all, but without it, watch out! [...] Olive throws things and Popeye has to pick them up while avoiding the attacks of Brutus, Seahag and Bernard. In round I, Olive throws hearts; in round II, musical notes; and in round III, letters of the alphabet. Try to pick them all up before they sink in the water.***Popeye was one of the launch games for the Famicom/NES system release in Japan. It's a well done conversion of Nintendo's own Popeye arcade game. The goal in each level is to catch all objects that Olive Oyl is throwing down (hearts, notes etc.), while at the same time avoid being catched by Bluto. Graphics are great for a game from 1983 and I still like the gameplay and the different design of each level.

Popeye no Eigo Asobi  Nintendo1983Popeye no Eigo Asobi is the Japanese-exclusive spin-off to the Popeye arcade game.

The game includes three modes: Word Puzzle A, Word Puzzle B, and Word Catcher. In Word Puzzle A (based on the first level of the original game), the player is given the Japanese term for a word in one of six categories: Animal, Country, Food, Sports, Science, and Others. Blank squares for the English word are given, and the player must maneuver Popeye around to point to letters of the alphabet in order to fill in the blanks. Each wrong letter entry prompts Brutus/Bluto to punch a basket carrying Swee'Pea; the player must solve the puzzle before Swee'Pea's basket is knocked off the platform it is attached to. The player may also forfeit the puzzle by punching the "?" icon. If the puzzle is lost or forfeited, the correct English word will be displayed. Word Puzzle B is identical to the "A" mode; however, the player is not given the Japanese term beforehand. In the two-player Word Catcher mode (based on the third level of the original game), the first player controls Popeye and the second controls Bluto. Three Japanese words are displayed on the screen's left side, and both players compete to collect letters thrown by Olive Oyl to spell out their English equivalents. A player wins when he or she has correctly spelled five words.
(Source: Wikipedia)******Popeye no Eigo Asobi is a simple word guessing game aiming at Japanese kids to improve their English skills. The graphics feel like being directly taken from the earlier released Famicom arcade port [game=#8102]Popeye[/game]. You can choose words from several categories like "countries" or "sports". Gameplay of Game Mode A and B follow Hangman-rules. Selecting ten wrong letters from the searched word results in Baby Sweetpea falling down. In Game Mode C you have to catch English letters in the right order to build the English translation of the given Japanese words. All in all a simple game aimed at kids, which is well playable, but also really uninteresting.

Spy vs. Spy  Kemco1986Spy vs. Spy features a pretty unique gameplay. Collect all items in a large embassy building with several rooms and make your way to the exit. Problem is that each item exists only once per level and when the other spy obtains such an item you have to get it from him. This you can do by either fighting him directly or placing traps on doors or furniture. The game runs in split-screen mode, so yo can observe every move the other spy makes.Playing against the CPU is only half fun. The matches against human opponents however are still very enjoyable. Graphically the game is no improvement over the 8-bit homecomputer versions. The music is very catchy, but also a bit repetitive.***2 players simultaneous competitive. labelimageminimize
Nangoku Shirei!! Spy vs. Spy  Kemco1987Published only in Japan.
Was to be released in the USA as Spy vs Spy: The Island Caper (Spy vs Spy 2). That version was canceled. A reproduction version of the planned US release was created.***A pointless sequel to the first [game=#8239]Spy vs. Spy[/game] game. The first game was quite fun, because of the original gameplay. The sequel has similar gameplay. The first spy who collects all parts of a missile wins a round. You can kill your opponent in fights or by cleverly hidden traps. The graphics are slightly better than in the original game but sadly is not fun anymore. Controls are confusing and the game lacks motivational content. Maybe its more fun with two players but even then I would prefer the prequel.

[27]***This game is notable for being nothing like the arcade game of the same name. This was quite a disappointment to many fans. A version of the arcade game would follow with Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade game.

Also notable for being difficult. In particular, a long gap near then end of the game requires a jump of the maximum possible distance (pixel precise) that many players conclude is impossible until seeking outside help.
[Zerothis]***Cowabunga! Players take control of the turtles in a half shell and rescue reporter April O'Neil from the clutches of the evil Shredder. Battle against the Foot Ninja Clan as Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Raphael with their trademark weapons and ninja abilities. Search through five stages and dozens of areas throughout the New York City sewers, rooftops and ultimately Shredder's Technodrome to save April. Players must scarf down some pizza to keep up their energy, as they'll need it to defeat Shredder. Turtle Power!

Dick Tracy Bandai (Realtime Associates)1990Ace detective Dick Tracy pored over the crime files and mug shots that littered the desk in his dimly lit office down at police headquarters. "This crime wave has to be the work of Big Boy Caprice," he thought to himself. "I can smell his greasy handiwork behind each of these cases. But, I need to get some hard evidence on him. If only I can nab some of his hoods - Itchy, Flattop and the rest. I'd rearrange their thinking and have them singing like that nightclub temptress, Breathless Mahoney. Then I could put Caprice behind bars for good." Suddenly, Tracy's two-way wrist radio seized the detective's attention... "Calling Dick Tracy, calling Dick Tracy." He sprang to his feet and burst into the squad room shouting "O.K., boys, let's go. This could be our big break!" labelimagesubject

Spider-Man: Return of the Sinister Six  LJN (BITS Studios)1992Doctor Octopus, a genious who made himself a cyborg by grafted 4 artificially intellegent robotic has escaped from prison and wants revenge on Spider-man. He assembles a team including Sandman, Hobgoblin, Electro, Vulture and Mysterio to battle Spider-man. This is a side scrolling platform/beatemup. Spider-man has his basic abilities in this game. Web slinging, swing, climbing, and wall climbing. It set in an early time, by the comic book canon, when he was losing his super powers due to physiological stress. But the game is only loosely related to the comic canon. To shoot web projectiles, Spidy will need to gather powerups. He of course can jump, punch and kick. As is usually the case with Spider-man, the game is set entirely in New York City. No superheros time in New York city is well spent without at least one trip to it's Sewers. Spider-man has only 1 life but does have a life bar. The only way to fill the life bar is by defeating enemies (fbd, fueled by destruction). Spider-man will occasionally need to find bombs, keys or other objects hidden by the villains in order to survive to proceed.
